Relating Forests

Relating Forests is a collaborative project between TheatreFragile (Germany), Cultures Eco Actives (France) and NOBA (Norway), and responds to the urgency of addressing the climate crisis and biodiversity loss by transforming our relationship with nature. The aim of the project is to raise awareness through transnational artistic engagement. The artistic fields are storytelling, mask theater, soundwork and performance.
My role in this project was in the design of the project’s visual identity, sketching its implementation on graphic materials promoting two online seminars and designing a press kit.
Visual identity
The visual identity of Relating Forests draws inspiration from ideas of changing relations, shifting perspectives, reimagine, forests, rituals, myths, masks and rethink.
Logo
The symbol in the logo reflects the idea of transformation, of changing direction/perspective. It can have associations with movement and dance performance, with dynamic lines. There’s a plasticity expression connected to the arts and generous space between letters providing clarity and a friendly expression.
Colour
The color palette is made of greens, browns and blues with a contrast red color (based on forests colours and the colours palettes from the partners organisations).
The logo symbol illustrates the idea of mask, like in the theatre. The lines illustrate movement, like in dance, the curves a change of direction. There is also an ideia of the intangible, the imaginary and exploratory in the form, linking to the ideia of reimagine, rethink and shifting perspectives. The texture reveals a plasticity of the arts, and nature. The dots in the texture can be seen in relation to the idea of loss, as in biodiversity loss.

During the design process, I collaborated with Rebekka Sætre (NOBA), Marianne Cornil and Luzie Ackers (TheatreFragile), Anne-Claire Dromzee and Anne Bouchon (Cultures Eco Actives).
